A man can dream of winning the lottery, can’t he?

The prices these things still command is nuts. I’m starting to think the real reason there is no hatch this generation was to drive up resale to insane levels so Subaru could brag about having the best brand resale in their ads.

Subarus always tend to command a premium where it snows. The WRX STi hatch takes it to a whole new level of crazy. I don’t know if your theory is right, but it’s very convincing.

Except that the Sedans hold their value just as well.

It really is - I periodically look and see ads like 2010 STi - 100k miles, rebuilt EJ, few mods, $22.9k, firm.

The sedans do hold their value very well too. I really don’t get it - the current STi sedan is very good too. But around me the hatches seem to command a premium over the sedans. Maybe it’s regional.

the STi is not really lottery money per say ....
you can get a 05 for 10k once in a while !!! (08+ are 17k maybe ?)
911s’ are another story :(

The 911 is also on my “own at one point” list.
With my current income, a WRX STi is still a lottery car. Plus, Canadian dollars, so everything is more.
